Alex-isms

It was pointed out to me recently that once again I am being a bad blogger, I never update! Sorry to anyone who has been checking back in the past few months, life has just gotten away from me. Work has been especially busy, and time at home is often consumed by playing with a certain 2+ year old. But, I decided it was about time to do a quick Allie update at the very least.

The kid continues to amaze me...she grows up a little more everyday, I think. I am awestruck by the fact that she can now tell me about her day (not in great detail, but at least bits and pieces), she understands so much of the world around her, and she is constantly expressing some new word or phrase that I don't think we ever taught her! These two year olds are really something!

Some of her real gems currently include:
"oh, thank you honey"
"ookkaaaaayyyuh" (insert the attitude of a 15 year old as you say it)
"have a nice day"
"no" (hahaha, my least favorite of course)
"no pushing (Nicole)"
"that's right"
"it's baby Julian" - every baby is now baby Julian (her new cousin)

She still loves to sing and is always learning new songs. She also likes to mash up the songs into her own special versions, combining bits of various ones she knows. One favorite at the moment is Old McDonald, except she likes to put anything and everything into the farm - Old McDonald had a mommy, had a daddy, had a car, had a cho-cho train, had a kangaroo (not sure where she learned about kangaroos, but she talks about them regularly and tries to tell me she sees them around).

For several days she kept telling Jason and I she saw a "busy"...she would say she saw one in the window, or outside, or in her play house. We could not figure out what she was referring to...I knew it wasn't a bee, because she knows the word bee. Finally last night she came running over to me and told me there was a "busy" in Tucker's crate. When I went to investigate, I found a fly buzzing around. We know now what a "busy" is.

On a recent trip to visit Aunt Dana and family (to meet baby Julian) Allie was given some of Lauryn's old doll toys - a doll bath, potty chair, bottles, sippy cups etc. Since then she has been very interested in playing with her baby's and caring for them using all of these new items. She will rock her baby, pat her baby on the back, feed her baby, bathe her baby. It's all very cute to watch.

We will be going on our first extended family vacation next week. We have done plenty of vacations with Alex, but almost all have included more people then just the 3 of us and most have not been a full week. This time we are packing up and heading out all on our own, for a full week at a cottage in a NYS park in the Thousand Islands. I cannot wait to spend an unplugged, uninterrupted week with my little family. We will be going on day trips, lots of bike rides, plenty of walks and, I'm sure, numerous outings to the playground. I'm not sure I will want to come back home! I will update once we're back with all of the fun stories from the trip!
