This weekend was full of sharing the great baby news! Back in June, before I was even pregnant, my mom, 2 aunts and grandmother had planned a girls weekend to celebrate my grandma's 75th birthday. This past weekend was finally that weekend!! My mom flew to Rochester on Thursday night and then my aunts and grandma drove out from Scotia on Friday afternoon.
My mom and grandma already knew the big news, but I had been waiting to tell Aunt Sue and Aunt Nancy in person when I saw them this weekend. Of course, what fun is coming right out and saying it?! So I placed clues around the house - A What to Expect book in the family room, a book for dad's that I got Jason on a table, a pregnancy cookbook in the kitchen and the ultrasound picture on the refrigerator among many other pictures. As we were all standing around the kitchen getting ready for dinner Aunt Sue and Aunt Nancy decided to look at the pictures we have on the frigde...it did not take long for Aunt Sue to point out an ultrasound picture...there was a short pause as they both looked for the name on the picture and then there were lots of shouts and hugs and the works. That was all followed by phone calls to uncles and cousins etc. It was definitely a celebratory feel. And on Saturday they all decided they needed to hit up JoAnne fabrics to get baby things to start making.
We had a very fun weekend...talking about babies and various memories of what my cousins were all like as newborns and infants. Fortunately for me, my mom, grandma and aunts had pretty easy pregnancies with few symptoms, and seeing as I have had it pretty easy so far I hope I am following suit.
This week marks week 10...4 more to do in the first trimester. In all honesty, right now it feels like it is dragging by. I am anxious to be able to tell the whole world and to be able to really "feel" pregnant. But I know it will start to fly by before long so I am enjoying the peace of it all right now.
